The Hook Island Monster

Robert Le Serrec photographed a colossal, tadpole-like creature resting in the shallow coastal waters of Hook Island, Australia, in 1964. The monstrous underwater shadow measured roughly 80 feet long, complete with a distinctive wound on its side and pale, lifeless eyes. Though highly debated and suspected to be a clever plastic sheet arrangement, it remains one of the most convincing sea monster photos ever taken.
